He was taking part in the launch of CLIC Sargent's Kick for Children with Cancer a a campaign which encourages youngsters to stage football-themed events to raise funds for children battling cancer.

Casper, 30, said: "It's every footballer's job to do work for charity whether it's for kids who have cancer or some other cause.

"I love kids. I have a four year old girl myself. Kids are just the best because they tell it like it is."

Despite a recent slump in form, Casper said he was confident that Leeds would still win automatic promotion.

He said: "There are 10 games left so that's 30 points . We don't want to go to the play-offs again. The two we've been in have been terrible, really disappointing."

He said Leeds fans were the best supporters in the country and urged them to stay behind their team.

He said: "Leeds has great fans. It's great to play in front of 20,000 or 30,000 fans each week, especially in League One. They need to stay behind the team."
